Thomas H. Schiltz, 79, of Attica, NY passed away after his courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer on December 12, 2017. He left us peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice. Tom was born February 23rd 1938 of the late Arthur Schiltz and Pauline Welker.
Tom prioritized providing as much as he could for his family, devoting 32 years as a correctional officer at Attica Correctional Facility. Tom, aka “Shadow”, cherished all things outdoors; especially hunting, trapping, and fishing with all his buddies including longtime friends Harvey and Dan. He treasured all the motor home trips, cabin getaways, and vacations on the lake with his beloved wife to be able to spend quality time with their family and friends. A very talented putterer, he could often be found in his workshop or barn designing something creative and unique out of just about anything he collected. Tom comforted everybody with his generosity and could effortlessly make you crack a smile with his quick-witted humor.
Tom leaves behind his wife of 57 years Louise; their two daughters Suzanne Moreis (Timothy Wolcott) of Attica, Cheryl Schiltz of West Palm Beach, FL; brother Robert Schiltz of Peoria, Arizona; sister-in-law Barbara Schiltz of Clinton, Washington; grandchildren Brittney and Landon Moreis of Attica, NY, Ryan Keough of Danvers, Massachusetts; and many beloved relatives near and far. He was preceded in death by sister Luella (Bill) Manley of Coral Springs, Florida. He loved his family, they loved him, and he was adored by many.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Tom’s 80th birth date on Friday, February 23, 2018 10:30AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish 1230 Clinton Street Rd, Attica, NY 14011.
