James D. Welker, Sr., of Attica, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Houghton, NY. He was born on December 22, 1933 in Attica to the late Donald J. and the late Helen A. (Spink) Welker. Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, the late Jean (the late Harvey) Pause and the late Mary (Ronald) Levine.
James served his country in the United States Army. After an Honorable Discharge, Jim became an Iron Worker. He was a member of the Iron worker Union Local 33 out of Rochester for many years. He was a member of the New Life Fellowship. Jim was an outdoorsman, enjoying bow hunting and fishing the most. He loved all of God’s creations. He made Maple Syrup with his son as a favorite pastime. Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. Family camping trips to Black Lake were important parts of his children’s growing up years. The Black Lake fishing trips were carried on with his grandsons as well.
Jim was beloved husband of Yvonne (Jatczynski) Welker; father to James D. (Pamela) Welker, Jr., and Lisa (Eric) Werner; beloved grandpa to Emmett (Alyssa) Werner, Caleb Werner, Amos Werner, David Welker, and Steven Welker; cherished brother to David (Joanne) Welker, Ann (Jack) Motz, Susan (Charles) Anna; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
There will be no prior visitation. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 11 A.M. on March 22, 2019 at the Alexander United Methodist Church, 10540 Main St, Alexander, NY 14005.
