Attica - Harold A. Meisner, age 83 of Attica, passed away Monday (May 20, 2024) in the comfort of his home.
Harold was born October 6, 1940 in Attica, a son of the late Alton and Bernice (Wendler) Meisner. In addition to his parents, Harry is predeceased by a brother, William Meisner, brother-in-law, Paul Wood; and sister-in-law, Linda Clark.
Harry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon (Strong) Meisner; children, Brad (Amy) Meisner, Kristy Bowen, Lorie Wawrzyniak, Patty (Steve) Charles and Jimmy Barrett; all of Attica; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kara, Sophia, Amanda, Nick, Katelynn, Sidney, Alex, Dominic and Chelsey; siblings, Margaret Meisner, Joan Wood, Janet (Bernard) Meinweiser; and sister-in-law, Frances Meisner.
Harry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961, until his honorable discharge in 1967. During his service he served two tours in Vietnam, and he had the honor of being a Specialized Mechanic on Air Force One during both John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidential terms, stationed out of Pensacola, Florida.
Harry was very proud of the business he brought to the Attica community, Meisner’s Deli. The Deli opened in the 60s, where he spent countless hours working, until his retirement in 2016. In addition to Meisner’s Deli he also spent many years behind the wheel of a truck, from his own trucking business hauling steel around the Northeast United States, to working many years at Carney & Fugle, Corcoran Custom Services, and the Town of Attica.
Harry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, working at the pizzeria, taking rides on his tractor, farming and watching traffic. Harry will be deeply missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday (May 24, 2024) from 3 to 6:00 p.m. at Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main Street in Attica, where Harry's funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Bill Hockey will officiate. Harry will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica.
